The production and sale of certified plants

Now in its fourth generation, the art of propagating plants is a family tradition for Vivai Milone.

Born in the cradle of Sicilian horticulture, in the province of Messina, Vivai Milone has been present in the Lamezia Terme plain for over 50 years.

Vivai Milone's facility spreads over about 35 hectares, located in 10 different sites, between the Municipality of Lamezia Terme and the Municipality of Curinga.

Combining tradition and innovation, ample experience that has been handed down for generations, technical skills together with commitment and the constant search for evolution, Vivai Milone produces certified plants, which are healthy and genetically certain.

It all starts here. The plant is the starting point for all agri-food production chains, so producing a quality plant is the first step towards obtaining quality products.

For Vivai Milone, "producing quality" means producing certified plants, i.e. healthy and genetically certain plants.

Vivai Milone offers:

230,000 sqm for open-field growing activities;
1,200 sqm of thermo-conditioned greenhouses equipped with 600 sqm of rooting benches;
1,800 sqm of sheds, storage and warehouses;
1,000 sqm of screen houses;
23,000 sqm of shaded areas;
25,000 sqm of tunnels, 5,000 sqm of which are heated;
1 micropropagation laboratory;
250 sqm for the acclimatisation of micropropagated plants.

Certified productions

By purchasing a certified plant, you are able to take home a plant with a guaranteed genetic match and an excellent phytosanitary state.

Vivai Milone in Lamezia Terme carefully follow strict protocols imposed by the competent authorities, culminating in the labelling of the plants with certificate-labels that seal the quality achieved, for the production of certified plants.

Micropropagation

Producing quality implies commitment and constant evolution. Hence the need to research, experiment and implement. This is why a micropropagation laboratory with an innovative system has been designed and built, conceived with a view to increasing productivity, containing management costs, saving energy and, therefore, sustainability in the broadest sense.

Our company produces plants of the highest quality in Italy and Europe, and finding propagation material is complex and sometimes difficult. Hence the need to make our company self-sufficient, even in the start-up phase of the growing process, through our micropropagation laboratory.

The micropropagation technique involves obtaining many plants in little time and space. Compared to the classic technique, however, in this project, several innovations have been made inspired by agronomic, economic and environmental sustainability, with a view of maximising results in economic, productive and qualitative terms.
